The good ski: Les 3 Vallées in april, 24 hours in paradise

While Les 3 Vallées offers non-stop skiing from December until April, each month is different in its own little way. And April is no exception! As springtime begins to arrive, it’s the ideal time to enjoy some fantastic skiing!

8 AM – Enjoy the mild temperatures when you wake up!

The sun rises over the ski area, revealing yet another snowfall from the night before. A layer of fresh powder coats the pistes and the peaks, announcing a day of great skiing ahead.

8.30 AM – Dress lightly

After eating breakfast, eager skiers can forget old sayings about the April showers. The weather is forecast to be warm and sunny, and one of the main advantages of late-season skiing is not having to wear lots of layers.

8.45 AM – Be the first on the slopes!

Télésiège David André

The lifts open for the first skiers, and you should be one of them! The start of the day is when the pistes are the best. Freshly groomed the night before, they offer the feeling of skiing through butter or on velvet!

9 AM – Enjoy the first tracks!

The ski area is even better in April when accompanied by an ESF instructor. These alpine professionals know exactly which slopes are not too icy in the morning, as well as the ones that aren’t too slushy in the afternoons as the sun beats down.

11 AM – Enjoy the powder in altitude!

After reaching higher altitudes and off-piste areas, those in the know can still enjoy the finest powder. One example is the Lac du Loup, which offers a route starting at the top of Cime Caron and finishing in Val Thorens.

12 PM – Enjoy an “easy” snow

Famille David André

For children and beginners, there’s nothing better than the gentle April snow for learning to ski without hurrying. And it’s true what they say – falling over in this cotton-like snow really doesn’t hurt!

2 PM – Sunny terrace!

The snow coverage and quality are excellent until the early afternoon. The pistes are groomed the evening before and harden slightly overnight, offering a fantastic skiing experience before the afternoon sun softens them slightly. The warm weather is also ideal for enjoying lunch on a restaurant terrace!

3 PM – Skiing but not only …!

Luge David André

There’s no need to feel guilty about stopping skiing a little early! After tearing up the slopes, a second day begins! This extra time can be spent in a number of different ways. Skiers cans sit for hours on an alpine terrace, relax and have fun at the Aquamotion leisure centre in Courchevel, the Aqualudique & Wellness space in Les Bruyères, and the sports centres in Les Menuires and Val Thorens, stroll through the streets of the resorts and take advantage of the unbeatable sales, experience the thrill of luging in Les Belleville or ziplining in Val Thorens-Orelle, or hike and snowshoe along the number of pedestrian paths in and around Méribel… And you can spend the whole day outside without getting cold!

5 PM – A well deserved day!

The “two days in one” come to a close. As the sun fades, faces light up when talking about the day’s activities, and the body begins to feel a little tired. Roll on tomorrow, when everything starts all over again!
